Marine electrical services in Dubai

What marine electrical services cover

Marine electrical services cover the repair, installation and maintenance of a vessel’s electrical systems: the wiring and cabling, the switchboards and power distribution, the generators and motors, and the lighting, electronics and control systems that run from them.

Anchor Marine Engineering carries out this work for commercial and private vessels at Al Jadaf Dry Dock, Dubai, or on board across the UAE, as part of our ship repair and maintenance service. AME has worked from Al Jadaf since 1995.

Because the same workshop rewinds marine motors and generators and builds marine control panels in-house, an electrical fault that leads back to a motor, a generator or a panel can be handled by one team.

Our marine electricians carry out marine electrical repair and installation across the ship electrical system: wiring and cabling, switchboards, shore power, lighting, alarms, monitoring and automation, at Al Jadaf in Dubai or on board across the UAE.

Switchboard repairs

Main and emergency switchboard repairs

The switchboards distribute power from the generators to every system on board, so a fault there affects the whole vessel. We repair main and emergency switchboards and distribution boards, on board or at Al Jadaf Dry Dock. New switchboards and control panels are built in our workshop: see marine switchboards & control panels.

Power on board

Generation, distribution and shore supply

Every system on a vessel depends on its power supply. We work on both sides of it.

Generation

Generators and alternators

Marine generators overhauled on the mechanical and electrical side, in the workshop or on board.

  • Stator & rotor inspection and rewinding
  • Control panel & AVR diagnostics
  • Insulation resistance & winding testing
  • Load testing & recalibration

Distribution & supply

Switchboards, distribution and shore power

The equipment that carries power around the vessel and brings it on board from shore.

  • Main & emergency switchboards
  • Distribution boards & power circuits
  • Shore power connections
  • HV & LV systems

Motors, generators and panels done in-house

When an electrical fault leads back to a motor, a generator or a panel, the repair does not leave our hands. The rewinding and panel shops at Al Jadaf work alongside the marine electrical team.

  • Propulsion & thruster motor rewinding
  • Deck crane & winch motors
  • Generator stator & rotor rewinding
  • Dynamic balancing of rotors
  • Marine control panels for AC & engines
  • Temperature control panels for marine HVAC

How we work

How marine electrical work is carried out

The usual steps for an electrical repair or installation on a vessel.

  1. 01

    Inspect & fault-find

The system is checked on board or at the dry dock to find the cause.

  2. 02

    Scope & quote

What needs repairing, rewiring or replacing, with a quote.

  3. 03

    Repair or install

Wiring, switchboard, lighting and system work carried out on board.

  4. 04

    Workshop work

Motors and generators rewound, panels built, in our Al Jadaf workshop.

  5. 05

    Test

Insulation resistance checks and functional testing of the system.

  6. 06

    Return to service

The system is handed back working.

Project experience

Marine electrical work for Ocean 6

For Ocean 6 we carried out the electrical cabling, manufactured, supplied and installed the control panel for the AC system and engines, and carried out generator erection and testing, as part of a wider marine systems package.

FAQ

Marine electrical questions

Not covered here? Call +971 56 278 5002 or email info@anchormarineeng.ae.

What marine electrical services do you provide?

Ship electrical wiring and rewiring, cabling, main and emergency switchboard repairs, power generation and distribution, shore power, lighting, alarm, monitoring and automation systems, and high-voltage systems, plus marine motor and generator rewinding and marine control panels built in-house.

Do you repair ship switchboards?

Yes. We repair main and emergency switchboards and distribution boards: fault finding, component replacement and testing, on board or at Al Jadaf Dry Dock.

Can you rewire a vessel or install new cabling?

Yes. We carry out ship electrical wiring, rewiring and new cable runs. On Ocean 6 our scope included the electrical cabling, a control panel for the AC system and engines, and generator erection and testing.

Do you rewind ship motors and generators?

Yes. Propulsion, bow thruster, deck crane and winch motors are rewound to marine class standards in our Al Jadaf workshop with the rotors dynamically balanced, and marine generators have their stators and rotors rewound.

Do you work on high-voltage ship systems?

Yes. Our marine electrical work covers high-voltage systems as well as low-voltage power, lighting and control circuits.

Which vessels do you work on, and where?

Commercial and private vessels, at Al Jadaf Dry Dock, Dubai, or on board across the UAE.

What do you need to quote marine electrical work?

The vessel type, the system or equipment involved, a description of the fault or the work required with photos, any drawings or single-line diagrams, where the vessel is, and your required timeline.
