Pump overhaul & repair in Dubai
What pump overhaul and repair covers
Pump overhaul and repair is the work of bringing a failed or worn pump back to reliable service. Anchor Marine Engineering carries it out in its Mechanical & Machine Shop at Al Jadaf Dry Dock, Dubai, for ships, offshore equipment, industrial plants and buildings across the UAE.
A repair deals with the part that has failed, such as a leaking seal or a damaged shaft. An overhaul strips the whole pump down, restores or replaces every worn component and tests the pump before it returns. We overhaul and repair all types of pumps, from centrifugal, multistage and boiler feed pumps to submersible, hydraulic, gear and marine pumps.
The machine shop works alongside our motor rewinding and fabrication teams, so a pump, its motor and the pipework around it can be dealt with together. AME has worked from Al Jadaf since 1995.
Our pump repair service in Dubai covers centrifugal pump repair and overhaul, marine pump repair for bilge, fuel and hydraulic pumps, and pump maintenance work such as inspections and part replacement, for customers across the UAE.

Repair or overhaul?
The difference between pump repair and pump overhaul
Both start with an inspection. What we find decides how far the work needs to go.
Pump repair
Fix the fault that stopped the pump
A targeted repair when one component has failed and the rest of the pump is in good condition.
- Leaking seals and gaskets replaced
- Damaged shafts repaired or straightened
- Impellers rebalanced to stop vibration
- Hydraulic pump seals renewed
- Valves replaced
- Pump repairs carried out on-site
Pump overhaul
Restore the whole pump
A complete strip-down for pumps that are worn, corroded or due for planned maintenance. Each overhaul goes as far as the pump’s condition requires.
- Complete dismantling and cleaning
- Every worn component assessed
- Worn parts restored by precision machining
- Seals and gaskets replaced
- Shaft alignment and impeller balancing
- Corrosion removal and protective coating
- Reassembly and pressure testing

On-site pump repairs
Our Dubai-based team can also come to site to keep downtime short.
Overhaul process
How a pump overhaul is carried out
These are the standard steps, plus any additional work found during inspection.
- 01
Inspect
Condition and symptoms checked and the fault identified, on-site or in the workshop.
- 02
Dismantle & clean
The pump is stripped down and cleaned.
- 03
Assess
Shaft, impeller, seals, gaskets and casing assessed for wear and corrosion.
- 04
Restore
Parts repaired, machined or replaced; seals and gaskets renewed.
- 05
Balance & assemble
Impeller balanced, shaft aligned and the pump reassembled.
- 06
Test & return
Pressure tested in the workshop, then returned or reinstalled.
When to send a pump in
Signs a pump needs repair or overhaul
Imbalance is one of the main causes of vibration, bearing wear and seal failure, so a small fault left running tends to become a bigger repair.
- Leaking seals or gaskets
- Excessive vibration or noise
- The pump no longer delivers its flow
- Overheating or a burnt-out motor
- Corrosion, especially on marine pumps
- Due for planned maintenance

What is the difference between pump repair and pump overhaul?
A pump repair fixes the specific part that has failed, such as a leaking seal, a damaged shaft or an unbalanced impeller. A pump overhaul is a complete strip-down: the pump is dismantled and cleaned, every worn component is assessed and restored or replaced, seals and gaskets are renewed, the impeller is balanced, and the pump is reassembled and pressure tested.
Which types of pumps do you overhaul and repair?
All types of pumps. The main groups are centrifugal and multistage pumps, booster pump sets, boiler feed pumps, submersible pumps, hydraulic pumps, gear pumps, and marine pumps such as bilge, fuel and hydraulic pumps.
What does a pump overhaul include?
Complete dismantling and cleaning, assessment of worn components, precision machining or replacement of worn parts, seal and gasket replacement, shaft alignment, impeller balancing, corrosion removal and protective coating where needed, then reassembly and pressure testing in the workshop.
How do I know if a pump needs an overhaul?
Common signs are leaking seals, excessive vibration or noise, a pump that no longer delivers its flow, overheating and corrosion. Imbalance is one of the main causes of vibration, bearing wear and seal failure, so these signs are worth acting on early.
Can you repair a pump on-site?
Yes. Our Dubai-based team can repair pumps on-site. Full overhauls, machining, balancing and pressure testing are carried out in the workshop at Al Jadaf Dry Dock.
Do you overhaul marine pumps?
Yes. We overhaul bilge, fuel and hydraulic pumps and other marine pumps for ships and offshore equipment, at Al Jadaf Dry Dock or on board, as part of our ship repair and maintenance work.
Can you rewind the pump motor at the same time?
Yes. Our rewinding team rewinds and overhauls pump motors, including submersible, centrifugal, multistage and borehole pump motors, and balances impellers, so a pump and its motor can be handled as one job.
What information do you need to quote a pump overhaul or repair?
The pump type, make and model, and its duty if known; a description of the fault with photos; where the pump is installed; whether it can come to the workshop or needs an on-site visit; and your required timeline.
