Switchboards and control panels for vessels
Anchor Marine Engineering builds marine switchboards, marine electrical panels and control panels for commercial and private vessels in its workshop at Al Jadaf Dry Dock, Dubai. Every panel is designed around what it has to supply or control on board, wired and labelled circuit by circuit, built to marine class standards and tested before it leaves the workshop.
Not every job needs a new panel. We also repair, modify, retrofit and refurbish existing ship switchboards: adding feeder circuits, replacing outdated breakers, meters and controls, and bringing an old panel back into reliable service.
For repairs to a switchboard on board as part of wider electrical work, see our marine electrical services. Panels for land-based plants and buildings are covered on the main electrical and control panels page.
As a marine switchboard manufacturer and marine panel builder in Dubai, we build main switchboards and emergency switchboards, along with marine control panels and marine engine control panels, to marine class standards.

From our workshop
A ship main switchboard built in Dubai
This main switchboard was built and wired in our workshop for a vessel. It brings the ship’s supply, its monitoring and its feeder circuits together in one panel, with every circuit labelled.
- Insulation monitoring with megohm meter and indicator lamps
- AC 220V main supply with voltmeter, ammeter and selector switches
- 415V feeder panel with moulded case circuit breakers
- 220V three-phase feeder panel for six distribution boards
- Feeders for fresh water pressure sets, oily water separator, navigation lights and battery charger
- Every circuit labelled on the door
New & existing panels
Build new, or bring an old panel back
Whether the vessel needs a new panel or the existing one needs work, the same team handles it.
New panels
Built to your drawings
A new switchboard or control panel, designed, built and tested in our workshop, then installed on board.
- Design from your single-line diagram
- Fabrication, wiring and labelling
- Testing before delivery
- Installation and commissioning on board
Existing panels
Repair, modify, retrofit
Work on the panels already on board, so they stay safe and reliable without a full replacement.
- Repair of faulty sections
- Modification: new feeders and circuits
- Retrofit of breakers, meters and controls
- Refurbishment of older switchboards
How we work
From drawings to commissioning on board
The standard steps for a new marine panel. For repairs and retrofits we start with an inspection of the existing panel.
- 01
Requirements
What the panel supplies or controls, the drawings, the vessel’s class and the space on board.
- 02
Design & quote
Panel layout and circuits confirmed, with a written quote.
- 03
Fabrication
Enclosure, mounting plates and busbars prepared in our workshop.
- 04
Wiring & labelling
Breakers, meters and controls fitted, wired and labelled.
- 05
Testing
Insulation resistance testing, loop checks and thermal simulation.
- 06
Install & commission
Installed on board, connected and live commissioned.
Project experience
Control panel for Ocean 6
For Ocean 6 we manufactured, supplied and installed the control panel for the AC system and engines, as part of a wider marine systems package that also covered electrical cabling, ventilation and generators.

Marine switchboards and panels we build
Each panel is built in our Dubai workshop to marine class standards.
| Panel | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Main switchboard | Distributes generator power to the ship’s loads |
| Emergency switchboard | Supplies essential loads from the emergency generator |
| Synchronizing panel | Brings generators into step to run in parallel, see synchronization panels |
| Feeder and distribution panels | Feed power to areas and equipment on board |
| Marine control panels | Control of motors, pumps and equipment |
| Marine engine control panels | Control, monitoring and alarms for marine engines |
| Retrofit and refurbishment | Existing switchboards repaired, modified and upgraded |
Which marine panels do you build?
All types of marine electrical panels: main switchboards, generator synchronizing panels, feeder and distribution panels, motor starter panels, engine and generator control panels, AC and HVAC control panels, alarm and monitoring panels, insulation monitoring panels, shore power panels and heater control panels.
Do you build generator synchronizing panels for ships?
Yes. We build synchronizing panels for running two or more ship generators in parallel, either as part of a new main switchboard or as a separate panel, built to marine class standards in our workshop at Al Jadaf Dry Dock, Dubai.
Do you repair and refurbish existing switchboards?
Yes. We repair, modify, retrofit and refurbish existing ship switchboards and control panels, from adding feeder circuits to replacing outdated breakers, meters and controls.
Can you install the panel on board?
Yes. We build the panel in our workshop at Al Jadaf Dry Dock, Dubai, then install and commission it on board.
Can you build a panel to our drawings or copy an existing one?
Yes. Send the single-line diagram, schematics or the existing panel details, and we build the new panel to match the circuits, ratings and layout you need.
How are the panels tested?
Insulation resistance testing, loop checks, thermal simulation and live commissioning, so the panel is checked before it goes on board and again once it is connected.
Are your marine panels built to class standards?
Yes. Our marine switchboards and control panels are built to marine class standards and to your drawings. Send the vessel’s class and any specific requirements with your enquiry, so they are confirmed in the quote.
Do you also handle the rest of the electrical work on board?
Yes. Our marine electrical team covers ship wiring, switchboard repairs and onboard electrical systems, and we rewind and overhaul the motors and generators the panels control.
What do you need to quote a marine panel?
The vessel and what the panel supplies or controls, the single-line diagram or drawings if available, the voltage and loads, the number of feeder circuits, the space available on board, and whether you need installation.
Do you build emergency switchboards?
Yes. We build emergency switchboards as well as main switchboards, to marine class standards, and repair and retrofit existing ones.
Do you build marine engine control panels?
Yes. We build marine engine control panels in our Dubai workshop, alongside marine switchboards and control panels, to marine class standards.
