Heating metal parts from the inside and the outside

Cartridge heaters and band heaters both heat metal parts directly. A cartridge heater is a slim rod inserted into a bored hole, heating the part from the inside. A band heater is clamped around a cylindrical part, heating it from the outside.

Design

Two ways to heat a metal part

A cartridge heater puts concentrated heat exactly where it is inserted, which suits molds, dies and tools. A band heater wraps around the outside of a cylinder. Both are sized to the part they heat.
